87621 2002-10-10 00:04:00 Hi all,

Grisoft has a 2376.2Kb update for AVG, so you will have to reboot after installing!

Symantec has 159Kb's of Micro-definitions for NAV,which is just their weekly update.

These should keep "BugBear"and all those other little peskies out of your systems for a while!

Cheers,Kiwitas,;-)

87622 2002-10-10 02:06:00 Now, speaking of that... Bugbear.. One machine got infected at work overnight while a customer was using it. Norton noticed that the file was infected but didnt do anything about it when we noticed in the morning that the printer was "Playing Up". Even restarting, norton would not stop the virus. I knew it was there, and that it was sending junk to the printer, but did nothing to stop it. Luckily, I've been using AVG. Scanned, found it, cleaned it, and installed it on a few others and found it'd slipped past norton on 2 other PCs on a netowrk of 9!

GO AVG!

87625 2002-10-10 03:21:00 NOD 32 has had four updates in three days.

Every one should be on 1.315, bugbear was detected from 1.309
and you should change your settings from the recommended 12 hours to once every 6 hours

87626 2002-10-10 03:45:00 Check other postings on this topic - most say that Nortons doesn't pick up Bugbear but that AVG does!!!

Can't beat the free product sometimes!!!!

87627 2002-10-10 04:28:00 Also once installed it will try to disable any virus-scanner / firewall present. Norton is almost certanly one of the ones it knows about. bmason (508)

87629 2002-10-10 05:24:00 What's this about Norton's not catching bugbear? Mine did. I just went into my Norton quarantine report and found 2 copies of it dated 4th October. (ie it captured and isolated them last week) and deleted them.

If you are using a copy of Nortons - is it up-to-date? Has the subscription expired and been ignored? Is live update activated?

My virus definitions were last updated 9th Oct automatically.

87630 2002-10-10 07:04:00 AVG have withdrawn the update because of problems with NT and above.

Will be re-released soon.
