| 87431 | 2002-10-09 05:07:00 | Hi yall, I bought a 20 gig Harddrive at a sale and want to hook it up to the beast. I currently have a 15 gig,(lame I know) harddrive. I have never formatted this drive and want too now that I have a new one. But I dont even have the new one hooked up yet. I have it all in place ready to go but dunno yet. I am currently running win 98, on a 533mhz pIII (lame I know) SHould I have the Bigger HDas the Master? Do I have to have both HD's with win98 on them? can I transfer folders and files to the second HD and have it run games and stuff on it that previously run from the 15gig HD? please help Haz |

Then boot up, go into the bios and do an autodetect harddrives. If this hangs, or does not find your new drive you need to change the jumper settings on the back of the drive. Once that's done windows should pick it up ok You should have win98 on the fastest hard-drive, which is not necessarily the biggest. No you don't need win98 on both of them., Yes you will be able to transfer files and folders across to the bigger drive. (don't move windows applications though, they will have a spaz) Thats the basics, to it, I'm sure someone else will post about fdisking (breaking the drive into partions) But get it going first, before you start worrying about the more advanced stuff. |
