| 87997 | 2002-10-11 02:34:00 | I have a trojan on my system that came through a Diablo 11 Games hack of my sons. I have spent the last month coming to grips with what it is and what it does, in this case it is being used to take the Diablo 11 passwords and raid the items in the accounts. My virus scanner picked it up as a zip file only after it was opened and never identified the files it opened two. I have used home call, Symantec online, Swatit and Trojan Hunter, but as it has already morphed it cannot be detected. When I became aware I used Dos to restore the registry, cleaned all apps and files, delted or modified a number of registry keys, and scoured wini ini for entries that I thought might be related. However as the account was hacked again I know I was unsuccessful. My question after all that is I am reasonably certain that what has been altered is a windows key, and I thought I would try reinstalling Windows before I cleaned my whole system. Could I reinstall windows from the system setup folder, (I have it on a separate drive), or would I need to use the OEM disc. |
