87970 2002-10-11 01:51:00 For some my downloaded MP3 songs the title info is missing, incorrect, etc and I can't seem to be able to change it.

In File Info in WinAmp 2.8 most of the songs have their details under the ID3v1 tags and that is editable but there are a couple of songs that although they have the details under the ID3v1 tag and the file name in Win Explorer is correct, the title in the WinAmp playlist just says "93. artist - Track 09". Duh!

How can I change this title to its correct one?

87971 2002-10-11 01:59:00 Personally, I rename my songs so theyre:
Artistname - Songtitle.mp3
I've got around 400 now so keeping them easily accessable without all the extra (1) and stuff is a necceessity.

Once I've renamed it, you can just open it up in winamp and select it/play it and press Alt+3

Then, untick the box beside ID3v1 and/or ID3v2. select Update, then if you wanna edit it yourself, re-open it again and put a tick box in the ID3v2 box. Just remember that when you hit "J" in winamp, it searches the filenames and the ID3 tags... just a lil tip

Try also removing the file and then re-opening it. Otherwise, remove the ID3v1 tags altogether.. That'd be my choice.

In WinAmp3 you can go Reload file info... that helps too!

Hope that's what you're after

Cheers

87972 2002-10-11 02:25:00 Thanks Chill .

Yes, I've renamed the songs in my folder where necessary so that they are of a standardised format in my folder .

This is an example of what I'm trying to do:

In my music folder is a "song" (if you can call it that) called "Scary Movie - Rap Skit" (and don't ask - it's my daughter's!) . In the WinAmp playlist it says, "Unknown artist - Scary Movie - Rap Skit" but when I press Alt+3 it comes up as "Scary Movie - Rap Skit" .

So how do I get rid of the "Unknown artist" bit? I can't see it anywhere that is editable .

87973 2002-10-11 02:29:00 I've had that too, my lil sister god slacked off coz her backstreet boys Black and Blue CD's song started doing that (Only about half of them).
I fixed it by removing the ID3 tag altogether, removing it from the playlist, re-adding it, and then re-adding the ID3 tag. There was actually little need for the ID3 tag though coz Id taught her how to rip them properly in AudioCrusher... !!!

Hope it works for you too

Cheers

87974 2002-10-11 02:36:00 Oh how embarrassing! :8}

The Artist field in the File Info was blank, so fill that in and the Unknown Artist disappears. Duh!

Never mind, you've given me a few tips that I didn't know so it wasn't a wasted exercise. Thanks. :-)
