87943 2002-10-11 02:38:00 Hi Sue - here's a tip - save your screenshot as a gif instead of jpg, and you'll not only get a smaller file-size, but better quality too. For an example, see my example at www.zu.co.nz Greg S (201)
87944 2002-10-11 02:54:00 AND HE USES AVG! Good boy :p ;)
Anyways.. It all depends on compression, JPEGs can be compressed easily, and while it can be done with GIF's, It's a little harder most of the time in my experience. GIF's are good though for animation, JPEGs justs cant do it.

I personally stick wiht JPG files... usually smaller, I'll try something out and post back in a sec.

Cheers

87945 2002-10-11 02:58:00 Alrighty, right you are.. But if you really wanna go small, PNG wins using your screenshot. Also, in MS Photo Editor, it depends on what bitrate you set you image as. JPEGs for me do 24 bit whereas GIF's only do 8 bit, AKA 256 Color. I'm using 32 Bit on my PC at the moment, so its quite a step back... Anyways. PNG is about Hlaf that of a JPG, and about 4/5's of a GIF!!

Just for the fun of it...

87946 2002-10-11 03:01:00 Yeah, my screenshot isn't that good looking is it? :-(

What I did was PrintScreen it, paste into PSP then resize it from 1024 x 768 pixels down to 800 x 600 and that's when it went blurry. How can I paste it as 800 x 600 in the first place and avoid having to resize it? I don't want to reduce my resolution just for a screenshot. :O

87947 2002-10-11 03:19:00 Or, you could just leave it at 1024x768?! Chilling_Silence (9)
