| 87787 | 2002-10-10 07:15:00 | I recently updated my IE6 to SP1, and for some unknown reason, it keep on crashing down while in the middle of loading up webpages such as "window updates", and pops up with messages ( I'm using Chinese WIN98 1st edition ) " An error has occured while processing... would you like to report this error .." and I thought of solving the problem by reinstalling back to my IE6, but window won't let me because once I try to run the install, it will say it has detected later version of IE 6 has been install on the computer and installation will end. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383} 3. Right-click the Reg_DWORD value IsInstalled 4. Select Modify 5. Change the Value Data to 0 6. Exit the registry editor 7. Reinstall IE 6.0 8. If you also want to reinstall Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0, make the same registry changes to the value at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} Regards, babe. |

Babe, Thanks for the suggestion, i tried it, it didn't exactly work, What I did at last was go to control panel, remove/install and selected IE6 SP1 option and revert it back to older version ( which is IE5 ) and from there I reinstall ( still d/l now as i type ) IE6. Bk T, I wish I can upgrade my OS if I can, but as a poor Uni Student, I don't reallly have the choice at moment but stick with this sucky old version.. :( Thanks again Sophia. |
