88175 2002-10-12 02:54:00 There are some nice desktops out there!

I notice a few that have a background behind the text on their Icons
that does match their overall background.(those using W9X)

There is a small app named DeskTran that fixes this so your text looks like the XP Icons.

It's only 30.1Kb's,and if anyone wants it,just post me your E-mail address.

Cheers,Kiwitas,;-)

pressf1.hostnz.co.nz

I was considering opening up a general FTP user on a subdomain for any F1 user to post an image or other file whenever the need arises. I've already created it, at the address above, but it seems there's enough volunteers hosting pics for those that don't have web space already.

However... if the need arises again, I could enable anonymous FTP uploads to it - but my concern is that it may be abused - does anyone have any thoughts on the idea?

88178 2002-10-12 03:32:00 Graham P, green is a lovely colour - my fav. It was after great deliberation and fiddling with custom colours that I choose that shade ;\

It is certainly interesting looking at other peoples desktops ... I have decided now that mine needs a bit more pizzazz.

88180 2002-10-12 03:48:00 Hey
Sorry i've taken soo long (NCEA prelim's are next week so I've been studying - REALLY)..
If any of you are interested here's mine, the only problem is that I'm using the family computer at the moment (mine's got problems) so I don't have much leeway with what I can do with it, but I have managed to do this...

88181 2002-10-12 04:13:00 i just want to remind u peoples that putting more stuff on yor desktop is gunna slow it down something. especially if u have a old pooter you no the difference.

If you put a big picture on yur desktop it will use recources. It will go fastest with just a colour.

I used to have mine just black with no icons and a auto hide taskbar but my mum got pi.. no hacked of cos she kept waiting for it to boot and there it was al ready to go :^O

Yep i know, but i have tried it all the different ways and strectched i loose the pic quality, as it isn't a very good photo anyway, just makes it too large and blurry, probably having a 19 inch screen adds to that i guess!!! :-) so i settled for grey cause i use grey/silver as my appearance colour.

88183 2002-10-12 04:58:00 It wasn't intended to be a project - I mean all it takes is 5 minutes to do, and if yer not interested in looking at the stuff, why did you, and why even bother whingeing.

It's not neccessarily the "looking" at others' desktops that's the issue - it's the "showing your own" that's part of the fun.

It's a mindless distraction, and why not - It beats * gardening and housework any day of the week as far as I'm concerned.

Sheesh

Mind you, having said that, I did like the "women's magazine" comment!
