88215 2002-10-13 00:22:00 Hey Pauline....

Where did you find that pic of my last abode?
:^O ;) :^O :)

88216 2002-10-13 00:30:00 Oh dear; am I the only one whose background is still the Green Hills of Redmond?
I don't have a website either, and you wouldn't really want to see my boring and severely functional desktop; just 22 icons on the left-hand side of the desktop in three neat columns of seven with Thumbs Plus starting a fourth column. "Downloads" is the only folder I keep there apart from the standard MyComputer, MyDocuments and Unused Desktop Icons.
I keep my tray icons minimal (currently Privacy Protector, CacheSentry, RealPlayer, ZoneAlarm, DAP, Norton AntiVirus). I prefer to use the desktop and the Start menu.

The Other Desktop that WinXP Pro sometimes visits on me is a plain sandy colour, with no icons, and sometimes no Taskbar either (and I do have a screenshot of that; I sent it to Microsoft and The PC Company and never got an explanation.)
If I'm in the middle of something when it happens, I just have to Ctrl-Alt-Del and get to apps from the TaskManager. When any application is taking up the screen, I get my taskbar and start button back and can launch new apps.
It's been suggested that it's a dodgy bit of memory; but it happens rarely and I've decided to live with it until I can do without the machine for at least a week.

Anyone else experienced this strange phenomenon?

88217 2002-10-13 00:40:00 argus, you started all this, remember? So don't be a spoiltsport - a wordy description of your "boring" desktop doesn't satisfy anyone and no, you aren't the only one whose background is still the Green Hills of Redmond. Billy needs some company. :D

C'mon, get your screenshot to me, pronto! ;-)

88218 2002-10-13 01:10:00 argus,

My current desktop on the 'doze box is purple with 82 icons.. which is why i posted the version from back in the Candy daze with about 10 icons, and my better ½ in the background. The Candy daze desktop is definatly much better eye candy than todays.

You are not alone with a boring green background + icons

If you look at my Linux desktop.. it aint that exciting either (yet)

Susan Tim Yang has been allowed back already - he's Phillip Pond... I don't think he'd risk it playing up again, Phillip Pond is really behaving himself. I think it's somebody else.

Mike.

88220 2002-10-13 02:32:00 Well perhaps Bruce/Robo will check the ISP address.

I think however is behind that identity is playing a very sick joke on us, so I will not humour him anymore. Even after I was told by Bruce to take a very long walk, I still maintain the Tim / ~~~SY~~~~ is the same person. But its a boring subject now, and leave it at that.

Won't worry about screen shot of the laptop, there might be young minds in the F1 Group, cannot be corrupting young minds can we.
