88547 2002-10-12 06:34:00 What the heck does the above file do in XP?

Is it possible to disable its use or anything, it seems as if I've got them everywhere.

88548 2002-10-12 06:53:00 I guess it is for storing cached versions of the thumbnails for you icons/files.

I don't know how they work, or if you can turn them off, but I exclude them from my backups.

You can turn off thumbnail caching in Windows XP Pro using the group policy editor...

Start | Run | GPEDIT.MSC (Group Policy Editor)
Select User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Explorer
In the right-hand pane select "Turn off caching of thumbnail pictures"
Double Click on that selected item
Select "Enabled" Click OK
Close GPEDIT

You can disable caching of thumbnails in the Registry via the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced
and set DisableThumbnailCache to 1

Whether you really want/need to ??? don't really know.
Cheers, Babe.
