| 88720 | 2002-10-13 02:18:00 | Hi again, a new problem with my new pc - I have now set up a dual boot system with Win98se and XP (thanx GP) with all partitions formatted as FAT32. I have drives partitioned and set up as follows under xp: IDE 1 primary: partitions C, D, E, F, G, H, and I - C: is my 98se partition, D: is XP. IDE 1 Secondary: Partitions J, K, L, M, N, and O IDE 2 primary is cd-rw (Q:) IDE 2 secondary is Zip 100 (P:). All works well under XP but in 98se, D: is the Zip drive, IDE 1 pri is C, E, F, G, H, I, and J, and K: is the CD-RW. Win 98 does not want to recognise the drive on IDE 1 sec at all, although it is listed in the hardware configuration. Also, the Drive letter allocation section is greyed out and can't be changed. Has anyone any ideas on how I can 1. Get Win 98 to see the secondary drive 2. Reallocate the drive letters under 98 to match the XP setup (not really important, but would be helpful). system: Mobo - Via P4PB 400, drives are both Seagate 80 gig 7200rpm Cheers, andy |

| 88723 | 2002-10-13 05:20:00 | Problem solved thanks tweak'e. The drive letter changer worked a treat and the problem with the second drive was that I had originally partitioned it in my old pc using Seagate's drivetools cos my old bios wouldn't see more than 30 gigs. I reloaded drivetools and repartitioned it and now all is sweet. Cheers, andy |
