88774 2002-10-13 05:09:00 this may be a dumb question, but what are I/O cards and what type of card do i need to put some video from my camcorder onto pc? Thanks in advance.

88775 2002-10-13 05:45:00 First part of your question - I/O card stands for "Input/Output" card - its basically a card (PCI card, like your modem or sound card I guess) for input and output, for example an older type com/serial port could be considered an I/O card etc.

Secondly, the type of card will depend on your camcorder. If it has DV output, you'd need something like a video capture card (most likely), but I have heard of some camcorders (not many) that'll transmit via USB, then you'd only need a USB port. But you'll also need the relevant software to record it.
