88675 2002-10-13 02:04:00 I just came into PressF1 for the first time today, and ever since being here I have to click OK or Cancel for a "Connect to ad.doubleclick" message - I have to click it 6 times before the page will load... and that's for every page I've viewed at F1 today.

Any takers? :)

88676 2002-10-13 02:09:00 That will be at your end, Mike. :D

Doubleclick doesn't ask for permission.

Thanks for your help Graham, you've solved my problem... NOT! :D

So where's the problem come from? I was at F1 last night without a problem. Turned on the system this morning (actually, I restored from hibernation) and it's been like this ever since. I tried deleting all cookies and temporary internet files, but it hasn't made a difference.

It's flaming annoying!

88679 2002-10-13 02:32:00 Nevermind I just fixed it :D

For some reason my IIS wasn't working properly. Shut that down and restarted it and bingo, we're away :) (I've got ads turned off via my HOSTS file - sent to 127.0.0.1, but this wasn't working due to my server not running properly; a shutdown then restart got it all going again :D)

88680 2002-10-13 02:37:00 Any time, Mike. :D

But the PressF1 page automatically issues a request somehow(on your behalf) to doublekick. Doubleclick sends data to fill the space in the page. Your browser (or adaware or ZA or whatever) decides to ask you for permission, or not. And Displays it. Or not.

That's my understanding of the system, anyway.

88681 2002-10-13 02:43:00 Graham - the problem was not actually with doubleclick at all :) it's kinda weird, and I don't really get it, but for some reason when I tried to access 127.0.0.1 (which I should have got a local webpage from) I was given that authentication dialogue box (not for doubleclick, but for 127.0.0.1)... shutting down and restarting the IIS all went back to normal.

I don't think I'll ever understand the mentality of Microsoft products :) I like them, usually, but every now and then they just play up and confuse the heck out of me :D

I'm hoping to learn more linux LOL ;)
