89275 2002-10-14 21:53:00 I think i gave my idea away in the title..

Seriously, pressf1 email, it would promote the site when people use it, and could even have a web based interface which could display banner adds to helppay the bills.....

I bet a lot of us would send a lot of mail with that address attached to it, which could only be good promotion, and lots of ad banners displayed too when we check for replies.

It could be almost as good a promotion as the purple www.pressf1.co.nz T shirt i'm still waiting on!

89276 2002-10-14 21:56:00 yeah i'd use this...
if there was spam protected but i'll excuse NZ computer promotion spam lol...
also for it to be able to use on Outlook express would be cool as too :-)

89277 2002-10-14 21:58:00 I can just see the look on the faces of the Big Cheeses @ IDG now Baldy (26)
89278 2002-10-14 22:01:00 Such a thing , has in fact, been considered, though not for PressF1. Biggles (121)
89279 2002-10-14 22:09:00 well i would have thought pressf1 was the obvious thing, seeing its the "public" forum.

Obviously @idg etc is out of the question, being the company identity, but pressf1 has a whole heap of public identitys associated with it allready.

Another obvious point is that it would be an extention of ones log-in identity(s) therefore "clueless" would definatly be me as a matter of course

mindyou, the email i sent to clueless@pressf1 didn't bounce, so i have to assume that the domain is allready in use for email?

89280 2002-10-14 22:30:00 so u sent a email to that address to see if it was free or not LOL..
i wonder who got it then...
are u expecting a reply?

89281 2002-10-14 22:40:00 Very good idea, BUT, you wouldn't want your email username to be the same as your regular one, or else there would be no stopping people from spamming you or attacking you if they didn't like what you said in the forum (ie because you could not hide your email address). But, otherwise, I would definitely be keen.

Esp, since I am going to be losing internet access for a month or so while I move up North, and am looking for a decent webbased sevice I can use in the meantime.

89282 2002-10-14 22:49:00 i was thinking that user name= user name is a good idea because if you get email to graham_petrie@pressf1.co..... and it came from clueless@press..... you'd KNOW it was me that you would be replying to, and i would then give out a "private address" for later use...
the private address would be a less disposible @pressf1 address or one at one of my own domains.

Sure username public would get spam, but there are so many times where an email address needs to be posted here, and user name unpublished would take over after that

89284 2002-10-14 23:00:00 And hows this for an optional filter...
"except only mail from @pressf1.co.nz"

that would mean that a publicly posted email address could be spam free!

unposted email addresses could be left open, and used with the usual discressions

good for send me your desktop, as per Susans recent thread etc etc etc
