89030 2002-10-14 03:06:00 I am looking at building a new computer and am wondering if a socket A Morning Star 6378 is a good value motherboard. It is about $140 and I have seen this motherboard in some cheap systems. forrest44 (754)

89032 2002-10-14 09:53:00 Good motherboards for AMD are Soltek DRV5 or if you're ona budget .. try ASUS A7V266 VM which uses Nvidia chipset for onboard graphics but also came with an AGP slot for future upgrades

cheers

89033 2002-10-14 13:17:00 Hi,

From what I can tell this Mother Board that you have mentioned is for AMD Duron CPU Chips only. This cannot support any other Socket A Cpu such as the Athlon XP chips.. The AMD Duron range is limited in Speed (Approx 1.3 GHz) and features compaired to the newer CPU's.

Is this what you want ??? For $50 more you can have an AMD XP chip..

Anyway Check out Price Spy (http://www.pricespy.co.nz/) to see what the general Price for the parts are, then either email them or phone to see if this is their lastest price.

Thanks
Jess
