89699 2002-10-16 01:50:00 I have Windows ME and run 2 email programs ( XTRA ) and Incredimail. I set XTRA as my default. I would therefore think that all new in messages would go to XTRA. In fact it goes to which ever one you open first. So if I have Incredimail open composing and a new messages arrives it goes directly to Incredimail and not XTRA. Any suggestions? or is it possible to get new messages in both? I guess this would apply when you have any 2 email programs running. Thanks. bruciebear (1478)
89700 2002-10-16 01:59:00 Hi,
In Incredimail, tools, accounts what is the default email programme there?
It might just need to be unticked. We have incredimail for my daughters Hotmail & I can send & receive on our ISP account but do not have that one as the default in Incredimail.
Hope this is of some help.
Pauline.

89701 2002-10-16 02:05:00 My advice would be to stick with just one program, no real need for two, unless you're testing out things.

Try to stick with just one of them

Cheers

89702 2002-10-16 02:07:00 Yes I definately have xtra set as default so it is weird. Now all new in messages are going to Incredimail not Xtra. bruciebear (1478)
89703 2002-10-16 02:30:00 Hi me again,
I'm a bit confused when you say that XTRA is one email programme?
I have win ME, Outlook Express as the main email programme as well as Incredimail. We did have some problems in the beginning with Incredimail wanting to make itself the default programme but by doing what I told you in the earlier post everything went fine.

89704 2002-10-16 03:06:00 By default mail programme. It means that if you click an email address in a browser like this one spam@hotmail.com (mailto://spam@hotmail.com). The default programme is the one that will open.

It doesn't have anything to do with what will receive the email.

89705 2002-10-16 03:23:00 Your email will be downloaded by the program that is open at the time.

As mentioned before what is the point in having the same email address set up in two programs, decide which one you want to use so your mail does not end up in both inboxes.

The only point in using both would be if you had another email address and used one address with one program and the other address with the other.

89706 2002-10-16 04:19:00 You could tell Incredimail to not check the mail unless you tell it to ;) -=JM=- (16)
89707 2002-10-16 08:29:00 Better still tell Incredimail to leave the messages on the server. mikebartnz (21)
89708 2002-10-16 11:12:00 When you say you have xtra I presume you mean outlook. Incredimail is an alternative to outlook instead of, so I agree use one or the other. Caro (562)
