89634 2002-10-15 23:27:00 Hi

I have set up a free host site with Orcon, and are having problems uploading files to it.

I use XP, and have in the past dragged and dropped files to other hosts using FTP under the Explorer interface, and can copy the index.html file that is there in my Orcon site (the default index file) from Orcon to my PC, but not the other way around.

I can also use WS_FTP to access and transfer files from Orcon to my PC, but it comes up with "550 permission denied" when I want to upload. I can use WS_FTP successfully with Paradise and other servers, but not with Orcon.

I know that my username and password is correct as I can access my Orcon email address, and I emailed Orcon using this to ask for help. They said there was problems for Tauranga users, but all is ok now.

Any ideas?

J.

89636 2002-10-15 23:38:00 At times there have been problems with 'ownership' of directories, at Orcon. If you log in through WS_FTP and change up to your 'home directory, click the "DirInfo" button and make sure your userid appears as the first name in the 'htdocs' line. If the userid is 'root', the directory wasn't assigned to you, and will need to get Orcon to fix.

89637 2002-10-15 23:47:00 I just looked and it says "root root". I have emailed Orcon asking to change, thanks!
