| 89896 | 2002-10-16 22:19:00 | Tried the Knoppix on the cd . Everything loads up okay until Xwindows is launched . The desktop was shifted vertically to the middle of the screen but active areas for icons etc . are still on the left side and bottom left of the screen . Hence to click on "K" which is displayed at the bottom but in the middle of the screen, I have to move the mouse to the bottom left corner . Any suggestions on fixing this . AMD K6-233, 128Mb Ram, Rendition 2100 graphics card, CTX 15" monitor . |

| 89899 | 2002-10-17 07:17:00 | Okay, lets start again . Imagine a windows desktop with start button on the bottom left corner and quick launch icons etc . next to it on the taskbar . Now imagine that instead of displaying on the normal position it starts somewhere in the middle and wraps around from left to right . Hence what should be displayed on the right half is now displayed on the left half and vice versa . To click on the start button, I still need to move my cursor over the left-hand corner of the monitor to an "invisible" start button . The same happens with applications in KDE as well . They are wrap around from the middle of the desktop from left to right . So the right half of the application window appears on the left half of the monitor and vice versa . Changing the screen resolutions doesn't help and neither did shifting using the monitor controls . Hope that explains the problem better . I suppose this is one of the weird problems with antique hardware? |
