89998 2002-10-22 22:54:00 >>> After all this I'm a bit nervous that I'll send my board away and get nothing in return.

If you haven't already sent it make sure it goes with a courier that can offer guaranteed evidence that it was delivered to them. Otherwise they could just say "Oh we never got it" and then you'll be in a pickle.

Same goes for getting it back again if possible, even if you have to pay for it yourself.

89999 2002-10-22 23:40:00 Thanks for the advice Susan. I took a deep breath and sent it with Courier Post. I have the Track & Trace ticket and I'll what and see...... crozier (2004)
90000 2002-10-23 00:58:00 johnnie, yes I do have the deleted thread. But I don't see how it would help you. It just went round and round in circles with a lot of abuse and bad language.

I'd suggest getting in touch with either Chaintech or Cedric Spencer at PC Gear. He appears to be the big honcho there. Contact hime via email though, 'cos on the phone he gets quite excoted and wtih a small lexicon available he reverts to very basic english.

90001 2002-10-23 01:11:00 Hey KrazyBob, you wanna swap your Asus board for a Chaintech one? It's a really nice looking board - black with gold an yellow bit on!

I think you're spot on about forumnz being an advertising tool for PC Gear. Also not that Octools.com appears to be run by them as well. So I wouldn't consider an Octools review as being unbiased at all.

I've just had an email from Cedric saying the the replacement will be sent out today for overnight delivery. I await the arrival with baited breath. Perhaps I am getting somewhere, but I'm able to stand up for myself and push for my rights. What about the people who can't do so?

90002 2002-10-23 21:52:00 Well, Cedric from PC Gear phoned me ystereday afternoon having seen this thread. He seemed very concerned that I was unhappy. A welcome turn around!

The replacement board arrived this morning and I'll rebuild my PC tonight. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I feel that perhaps my assertivness has won the day. If any of you have one of the boards a feel that you should have a replacement the get in touch with Cedric by email cedric@pacint.co.nz.

90003 2002-10-24 12:05:00 Good on you , I to fell under the abuse of Cedric"s over the apogee , and saved the thread to disk just before he deleted it from the forum and have been in contact with all the appropriate authorities , all of which were disgusted by the way PCGears customers have been treated ..
Please let me know how you got on ..
Cheers

90004 2002-10-24 19:59:00 Also ,,what motherboard was it replaced by ?.
I have taken your advise and emailed PCGear rather than phone them as Im not into self abuse, I was shocked enough at Srewtops(cedric's) rage rantsand foul language on the forum.
I can honestly say word of mouth is the best advertising and I doubt anything good will be said about PCGear for along while.

90005 2002-10-24 20:17:00 Hi, it's been replaced with another 7VJL whcih he says will do all the things it was supossed to do: 166mhz, 1/5 divider, up to XP 2600+. I asked about upgrading to KT400 and paying the extra. But they're unstable until VIA bring out the new chipset (rev B?). I don't know if my new one is a new design are whether it's been modified be Chaintech (or PC Gear?). I don't yet know what bios version it is. Cedric says that the Chaintech modified boards have a wire soldered to the underside of the board. I'll know better when I re-build my PC, I didn't get time last night and I don't really feel like rushing the job. This is another thing which they just don't seem to appreciate, It's going to take several hours to do this, I've got better things to do with my time.

The board has the appeareance of being used and a couple of pins are slightly bent, perhaps it's been pulled out of stock and modified. When I mentioned this to Cedric via email he phoned me within a few minutes and started to get a bit excited until I calmed him down. In an email shortly after he said "Don’t start anything unnecessary with me." So even honest feedback upsets him. I thought he would have appreciated the feedback.

90006 2002-10-24 21:08:00 That is what cedric always does. We really need to put a foul language sensor on his mouth. johnnie (2264)
90007 2002-10-24 21:09:00 Maybe we should start another thread to help other people who had suffered from cedric's language and quiet down. People should get what they paid for. johnnie (2264)
