89988 2002-10-17 20:46:00 Hi Crozier

Yea I mean PC Gear. I also checked out forumnz and agree, that it is not a good place to be.

89989 2002-10-18 10:05:00 Well, this seems interesting! Ramil at octools.com also appears to work for PC Gear in Auclkand.

So, to recap, PC Gear runs forumnz and octools? Can any advice or information on forumnz be considered impartial? Or can any review on octools?

If you're considering buying a PC or undertaking a rebuild be very, very careful who you're dealing with. Only consider buying from people who you trust - talk to friends or collegues and about your experiences.

I got an email from Chaintech telling me that they've asked "ramil from PC Gear" to take care of me. If they look after me properly I'll be sure to post the news here. But don't hold your breath.

maybe you have more of a problem with the suppliers rather than the board, I use one of these boards on one of my computers running an xp2200 athlon and have o/ced it to 2ghz with no probs at all

89991 2002-10-18 10:58:00 You might be right there greenglass. But the board will not post when JP31 is enabled (166mhz) nor is 1/5 divider available. These are both manufacturing faults and Chaintech admit that they are problems on the S102 boards. Revision S103 is mentioned on their website but they say this has not been released and it appears that it never will.

As I said before it's the responsibility of the distributor/importer. But PC Gear would rather insult customers than help them.

89993 2002-10-21 22:07:00 Well, I thought that a solution was at hand this morning. Cedric Spencer, Director of PC Gear and PC Gear Dunedin, phoned me. I thought we were on to a winner here. But no, the foul language and abuse nearly melted my phone! It was so bad that I had to hang up on him!

if anyone from PC Gear reads this forum - all I want is a motherboard that does what it's supposed to do, I'll even pay for an upgrade if necessary!

89994 2002-10-22 04:46:00 what about threatning fairgo or the small claims court. -=JM=- (16)
89995 2002-10-22 09:56:00 I've mentioned the Consumer Guaranties Act several times, but this just seems to get him more agitated. However I may be getting somewhere! Cedric Spencer has this evening offered me a replacement. After all this I'm a bit nervous that I'll send my board away and get nothing in return. But I'll take a punt. After all, if he doesn't replace it after offering to do so, AND keeps my board it's fraud - isn't it. Then I can get the police involved.

But I'm getting a bit far into the future. As a honest person myself, I must assume that he will do the right thing. I'm not getting paranoid, really I'm not....;)

89996 2002-10-22 22:37:00 corzier: Do you have the deleted thread from www.forumnz.com? I am a happy Apogee user who doesn't overclock. However, I would like to have the ability to use 166 MHz jumper once AMD releases the new CPU. johnnie (2264)
89997 2002-10-22 22:44:00 I have noted in my visits to forumnz over the last few weeks, that forumnz is just a shameless advertising medium for pcgear . It looks like forumnz was set up just to get sales from unsuspecting buyers , who think they are getting good honest advice but instead they are being subjected to one sided bias . I had a chance to read the thread crozier is talking about before it was shut down and honestly, the language used by (screwtop)cedric was very foul and very abusive to his customers . He told his customers in forumnz that they were insignificant and he didn't need there sales if they whine at him . Little does he realise, that it takes only one annoyed customer to tell 9 of his friends, who in turn tell 9 of their friends, what bad service they have got from PC-gear . In a small country like NZ, every customer you can get help . There's no need to create a bad reputation for yourself . It's like Cedrics gone and shot himself in the foot . I bet Chaintech sales are pretty slow right now at PC-Gear .

I just thank my lucky stars the I own a Asus and don't have to deal with Chaintech or PC-Gear .

Another thing about forumnz . If anyone says anything bad about PC-Gear or one of their products, they get banned ASAP .

This is a case for Fair-Go or the CGA, for sure . Don't let Cedric push you around Crozier and anyone else . Get what you paid For!!
