My Motherboard does not have Native SATA3. so I am running a SATA 3 drive via an adapter on the PCI Express bus
When the system boots my standard Sata2 drives are detected via the bios the screen clears and the Sata3 card is detected

However I do not seem to be able to make the SATA3 drive my boot drive.

any suggestions as to a solution

TIA

Bryan PS do not suggest an upgrade

1317267 2012-12-09 20:16:00 Unplug everything except the new SSD. Is it detected?

What if you leave everything else unplugged and put it into one of your SATA2 ports, is it detected, and can you boot off it then?

1317268 2012-12-09 20:44:00 How are you putting windows on it ?
If installing from disk you''ll need drivers for the controller card. Also the BIOS probably needs setting.

I managed to track down the problem
I originally installed win7 with the drive in a SATA2 controller, I removed all the sata 2 drives and booted from a cd which round the sata3 controller and reinstalled win7 to the SATA3 SSD All100% AOK now
