1316701 2012-12-05 22:35:00 I have downloaded Clonezilla to a DVD and unzipped it to the same location. I haven't been able to work out how to boot the DVD from the two options to the boot screen. Running MS Vista. Have tried hitting F1, F2, and F3 upon starting the laptop. Thanks shakoni (16135)
1316702 2012-12-06 00:03:00 First off, Clonzilla has to be written to a bootable DVD, not just copied to it.....2nd, what make of laptop, the function keys to get the boot menu is different depending on manufacturer.... SolMiester (139)
1316703 2012-12-06 00:39:00 I copied the programme to the DVD and unzipped it as it was a zipped file. How do you write a programme to a DVD and what is the difference? My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-CR23G/W. shakoni (16135)
1316704 2012-12-06 01:01:00 To creeate a bootable DVD\CD, you need proper burning software and you need to tick the option to create bootable along with whatever program you have, unless the downloaded file is an ISO or image of a bootable DVD.....regarding boot up, there will be a key to press when you first turn on the laptop that will give you boot menu...

Download the ISO file, not the zip...
clonezilla.org
then you burning software to write a disc using the ISO, that will create bootable disc for you!

1316705 2012-12-06 02:32:00 With the burning software - which one would you recommend as cnet is suggesting the imgburn software is suspect. Thanks shakoni (16135)
1316706 2012-12-06 02:36:00 Well I wouldnt get anything off the cnet, or download.com site. They repackage installs with their own crap. Which includes malware Speedy Gonzales (78)
1316707 2012-12-06 02:39:00 Thanks the the thumbs down for cnet. Where should one go then? And what burner is worthy? Ta shakoni (16135)
1316708 2012-12-06 02:44:00 Go to the imgburn site, and download it. I've never used Imgburn tho. I've only used cdburnerxp. Or Poweriso (but this isnt free). Speedy Gonzales (78)
1316709 2012-12-06 02:45:00 Running vista. I went to the imgburn website but got confused and found the cnet site easier on the eye. Will go back to the imgburn site and download directly. Ta shakoni (16135)
1316710 2012-12-06 02:48:00 If you want an easy to use, and almost idiot proof ISO burner use www.freeisoburner.com/ (http:) It doesn't install, its stand alone.

When you click on the download link it will automatically take you to the download page and auto download.

Simply double click it, under "open" navigate to your ISO file, click Burn and as long as theres a CD/DVD in the drive sit back and watch it do its thing.
