2012-08-03 02:03:00 | So here's the interesting question wainu. Is a beta nod32 better than some free programs, ie AVG free? | Nick G (16709) | |
2012-08-03 02:21:00 | System Requirements Processor Architecture i386 (Intel® 80386), amd64 (x86-64) Operating Systems Microsoft Windows XP Microsoft Windows Vista Microsoft Windows 7 Microsoft Windows Home Server Has anyone tried to run Win XP on a 386? :D Only one known issue to date - and a rather important one I would think . Interesting anti-theft feature but everytime you use your webcam, generally a little light comes on when its running, so unless they have found someway to disable that "Allows you to watch thieves via built-in camera without them knowing" is not quite true . I'll give it a go when I get set back up as I'm moving offices at the moment . Thanks for the heads up

2012-08-03 03:11:00 | Has anyone tried to run Win XP on a 386? :D From an architectural point of view, the majority of Windows XP installs are running on an i386.

2012-08-03 03:25:00 | So here's the interesting question wainu . Is a beta nod32 better than some free programs, ie AVG free? The Version 6 (testing it as I type) looks similar to Version 5, but with more features . So to answer your question, it should be, as its already building on existing features . Many programs do this, they dont start from scratch and start again, they build on what the have, the reason its in Beta/RC is because they are still testing and working out any bugs in the newer features or upgrades to existing ones . AVG couldn't catch a cold, I've seen countless computers badly infected or unbootable because of AVG . Back to Nods new Features: They work a treat, when you first install it you are prompted to create an account ( free) that way you can log in anywhere and activate the Anti-Theft options (lost / stolen computer) . Account pic: 4052 Once the account is created you can log into it, and do a test to see if its working or not, the screen shot below is activated from the Office PC inside, the Cam is attached to a test PC in the workshop . Even tried to make Linux users feel at home ( Bit of humor) ( yes its sunny in the workshop when that was taken) 4055 It even takes a screen shot at the same time as to whats on the screen, in this case a basic W7 Desktop: 4054

2012-08-03 07:42:00 | Will it be any better than other geolocation services that try to guess your location based on your IP address? Almost all Invercargill DSL connections are detected as Christchurch. | Greven (91) | |

2012-08-04 10:58:00 | Norton must have a huge Bribe fund  Its been proven time and time again, Lab tests mean nothing compared to real world results. While NO AV is perfect, some ,the before mentioned Norton, are a joke sometimes in the real world.

2012-08-04 20:11:00 | The Invercargill tip has a second hand shop called 'The Garage' just inside the gate. I was in there yesterday and I spotted Nortons in a box being offered for sale. If you want a cheap copy of Nortons you know where to find it. I did not bother to snap up this bargain. | Bobh (5192) | |
2012-08-05 01:50:00 | Paul, with respect this comment is juvenile and - yes - defamatory. For the record, to the best of my knowledge Symantec hasn't advertised with us for years. The products you mentioned simply didn't perform as well in independent tests carried out by an internationally renowned testing organisation. I'd thank you to keep your ill-informed comments to yourself. - Matt Egan (Editor of PC Advisor) That's what they all say
