1316922 2012-12-20 00:47:00 Settings --> Accounts check google is there and the green sync icon is active *That instruction is for ICS/Jellybean so might be different for you

Here we go:
1) Open the play store and search for gmail, make sure it doesn't need updating. If it does, do so.

2) Send yourself a test email from your own account or from another one it doesn't matter as long as you have a blank email, now open gmail on your phone. Nothing? Right, onwards.

3) In the Gmail app right click/menu key (I'm not sure what it's actually called) then go to settings --> youremail@gmail.com then under the heading "Data Usage" make sure Gmail Sync is ON, if not. Enable it.

4) Quit Gmail, we must go deeper! Open system settings --> Accounts and Sync (or something about sync, I can't remember the process for Gingerbread anything Pre ICS sorry) and make sure Sync is turned ON and all the boxes are ticked etc

This *should* get it working. If it doesn't we shall progressively try bigger hammers until we get a functioning root out of this phone!

Dude, sorry for the late reply - was offline for a while and it's been crazy with the lead up to Christmas, as I'm sure everyone else will agree on!

I don't know how, or what I did, but after some fiddling around and turning phone off and back on, hey presto I managed to get it all working again....
Thank you for all your help :) enjoying the much quicker phone, and I'm still playing around with the settings to tweak it.

1316924 2013-01-16 23:30:00 One question!

If I install the Facebook app onto this phone, will I be able to uninstall it? (Wasn't able to on the stock version)
caffy (2665)
1316925 2013-01-16 23:57:00 Yes you can always uninstall apps. Chilling_Silence (9)
1316926 2013-01-17 00:04:00 Yes you can always uninstall apps.

Cheers. I wasn't able to uninstall it before, so wasn't sure how they work on custom ROMs.

1316927 2013-01-17 00:10:00 If you couldn't uninstall it pre root, it would be because it came preinstalled. Most preinstalled apps cannot be uninstalled on an unrooted phone. Nick G (16709)
1316928 2013-01-17 02:42:00 ^^ This man speaks the truth.

However even now, you can disable preinstalled apps :)
