1293675 2012-08-09 05:32:00 Yeah when I download ARMA II (For DayZ) on my PC, there goes 25GB straight off the bat. I then reinstall Windows this month, there goes another 1.5GB on updates alone, another 25GB on ARMA II, another 3GB on DotA2. TeamFortress2 is another 8GB, and Assassins Creed Revelation was on sale on Steam so I bought that, it's another 11GB I believe?

My wife missed a few TV episodes of Shortland Street, she watches them all online. I wanted to see Campbell Live about Kim Dotcom, there goes another few hundred MB...

It's *incredibly* easy to blow through a hundred gigs a month!

LL,
You'd be surprised, basically their "Capped data plan" vs "Unlimited data plan" share different allocations of data. They lump all "unlimited" users together on the same bandwidth pool, which can degrade speeds dramatically at times. Because the "capped" users pay-per-GB, they offer quite a bit better service and speeds...

Oh dear, I didn't know that! I guess I will be doing more regular speed tests from now on.

Good luck with that! You have to do it during business hours, and you've gotta ring them, and it took like 15 minutes for me to do it.. It was such a mission!

1293678 2012-08-09 09:53:00 I did not realise we had a Brony apon us... I'm not one... Just sayin...

I'm the only one on the forum here, but there's a few hundred in the FB group I admin. Doesn't seem to have taken off too sharpish here, but there's plenty around all the same.

On the bandwidth capping thing, watch out if you or your family use those torrent clients. Your bandwidth is gone in seconds with those buggers, as others have said.

I find it odd how youtube seems to use so much bandwidth for some of you people though.
Do you all watch stuff in HD, or watch it in low quality and download in high for later on? Hell, mum and me both use it fair amounts and our usage for this month (I've been busy at uni) is only 25gb so far, and we roll over on the 22nd.

1293679 2012-08-09 11:25:00 I watch a crap tonne of youtube, live streams from twitch.tv and what not, skype, online gaming and I usually download a few games from steam every month. I think we have only got the 80% warning once and we are on 40gb. Some people say that youtube is a massive net whore, has never really been a problem for me though. icow (15313)

Twitch TV really kills your cap.
Did you watch the Hidden Path Entertainment live stream last weekend? There were a lot of counterstrike fans joined in to complain about the update being late & some of them ended up being converted to tower defence :D
