1293470 2012-08-07 21:09:00 I think i was paying about $115 for xtra / telecom with phoneline, a month..... i think...not sure where the last bill is......
So anything less $$ than that is good. We all have cells so a landline is a bit hohum of a point, we had it to get broadband. and now we dont.
Have looked at Xnet, looks quite good, snap... well havnt really looked at that one before.
Been with slingshot for dial up and that sucked........... not keen to be on slingshot again....... and the telstra adds on telly keep making them sound !!! but am listening to comments and think nope not going there....lol

Thanks all

1293471 2012-08-07 21:21:00 I checked out snap and didn't like their prices, can certainly get better, I'm looking at the 60Gb for $65 at the moment or $55 if you have a on account cellphone with them gary67 (56)
1293472 2012-08-07 21:24:00 Since i dont have a phone at home....lol i cannot ring any and talk to a real person and discuss options...lol

But was on 40Gb wth telecom and we never hit it........ it was part of there double up for free package...... and we werent really on it long enough to get the mark hit yet.....

so id say 30 - 40 Gb will be plenty....? dont know if they do that tho.....

1293474 2012-08-07 22:41:00 Why not go for the $75 Genius plan with Orcon (Includes a homeline over the internet, as they put it) and 30GB:
www.orcon.net.nz

On top of that you can just plug a normal phone into the router that they supply (Genius Lite). If you sign up for 24 months they give you the Genius (The full Genius, not the 'lite) which has a special type of cordless phone bundled with it which attaches to the router so you don't need to worry about anything at all! :)

1293475 2012-08-08 00:28:00 I would consider Orcon if I was you . Speedwise was the bit better lot for me anyway when I was with them . And you get the optional phone too, one port anyway for free without any additional wiring . With it, you can wire the Genius box back into the all the jacks around the house for $200-300 I gather with a teleco/electrician guy . There is also Actrix, good IME but they don't have the optional phone I think .

Telstraclear - even if you sign a contract they still have a $2 . 99/mo for "wiring maintenance" and if you opt out and there is an issue they could ask you to pay the larger amount .

1293476 2012-08-08 00:45:00 We had Xnet when we first went naked 4 years ago, but I found their speeds shocking and the connection dropped so many times. About a year and half later, switched to Orcon's naked plan (which they don't offer anymore) and have had a much better experience with them. Sure, sometimes we do get dropped connections but on a much lesser frequency. So based on my experience I'd recommend Orcon over Xnet. caffy (2665)
1293477 2012-08-08 01:42:00 We are on the Xnet Fusion plan and have been for 2.5 years. So far this year not a single drop out and speeds are good gary67 (56)
1293478 2012-08-14 22:41:00 Sigh............ have talked to telecon 3 times, each getting a different answer............. took them far longer to cut off phone than told, and wait for it, my email and bb was still running yesterday? after a week with no phone.............these things take time the teleco person says........ will i get charged for this? yes she says.....
and if i want to keep my email addy its $20 a month charge..........
but they will give me 6 months to pay off my account before they send it to a credit agency...lol nice of them........and if i then want my bb and phone back, my landline and cell i can reapply for it and they will set it up , with charges.......lol

oh yay....

not decided on a new isp yet...
had a child on his birthday have a slight accident and have mild concussion instead...........so focus has been else where... oh well he will remember that one for a long time then!

1293479 2012-08-14 22:59:00 I have already got a mac Time capsule (router built in) so if I join telecom/xnet whoever, I get a free router right?
So what to do with $500 time capsule?!
