| 1292759 | 2012-08-05 01:07:00 | they asked me things they ought to know I haven't done . They just siad that I may not have much experience in it . Why would they asked if I done many contracting jobs . . . . Your post is fairly incoherent, were your answers? Maybe they wanted to see if your answers differed from what is in your CV . Maybe they asked if you had done many contracts to see if you were the type that prefers that sort of thing . Some do, some don't . And yes, they see you just did the course, therefore experience is minimal, why ask you? |

Hilarious that I had more experiance than he did and now I work for an employer that recognised that experiance. Strangly enough when I applied again for the same job 5 years on with proven track record, I dont hear back either.....lol | coldfront (15814) | ||

Yep, I thought then, why did I got shortlisted if they had a section of q's that I wasn't able to answer or given the opportunity to be asked. They did have a couple of others to interview (they said). |

| 1292762 | 2012-08-05 05:52:00 | my situation was had the experiance just not the up to date piece of paper called and NZQA! Seems that someone who has no experiance as long as they got the piece of paper gets the job and thats what happened. | coldfront (15814) | ||
| 1292763 | 2012-08-05 08:33:00 | Often once you reach the short list it is less about what you have done but more about (a) what your potential is and (b) whether you'll fit. | globe (11482) | ||

| 1292765 | 2012-08-05 10:34:00 | In my experience, recruitment is a lottery and many so-called recruiters (as Metla has recently found) are no better than second-hand car salesmen/ The best recruitment agents have actually come out of the industry they specialise in - since then they *usually* know what they are talking about (but not always). Even then, they are often just after the placement fee. There are a (very) few exceptions, and these are the ones I go back to when required... HR departments are generally a waste of space - they have no relevant experience for making decisions on who is the best for a particular role (unless it's an HR role). All they are useful for is keeping track of holiday allotments and enforcing (generally stupid) policies. They add nothing to the bottom line of a company, |

I went through a specialised agency once. Didnt even get an interview, agency told me I wasn't qualified enough. I applied for the job directly with the company, ended up getting the job but turning it down. Following week I had the agency ring me up asking me if I was interested in a interview. Only to tell them I had already turned the job down. I will o longer deal with agencies |
