If no luck, allow to dry and repeat with meths.

Cloth must not be so moist that fluid can run down the screen.

No liability taken for any damage!

1292440 2012-08-03 10:59:00 Hi everyone,

What do you recommend I use to remove this? The lady at Dick Smiths where we bought the TV from couldn't be sure whether their one cleaning product would remove adhesives....

Thanks
Catherine

I had a similar problem here and no matter what I tried the problem just got worse. The smears just spread over the surface. In the end I asked a friend who worked at DSIR, think it's called something else now. He advised me to use a small amount of vegetable oil. It worked like a charm!. It seems that the oil molecules are smaller than the molecules of the adhesive and cause them to break the bonds to each other. You only need one or two drops. Do NOT use alcohol! It will only make the problem worse.

Not saying your method wont work, but oil is a lubricant, so unless the liquid could get under the streaks I dont see how that would work. Just my opinion;)

1292442 2012-08-03 12:12:00 A penetrating oil like wd40 or crc will get it off, but it will leave a mark so it will need some sort of alcohol or cleaner to remove the residue.

I don't think alcohol will make the problem worse.

1292443 2012-08-03 12:49:00 Yeah I have a screen down here got coffee spilt on it after one of the earthquakes knocked it on the floor and a few spots of coffee fell on it, and dried.

Nothing tried so far has had much effect on the brown stains.

Now, I got a replacement today so I'm going to try some 'tougher' measures!!!!!!!! since it's not a critical component anymore.

I have just tried some alcohol, and things definitely are looking better. Seems a shame to involve the TV though.

1292446 2012-08-06 05:12:00 Thanks everyone, I will try water on a soft cloth first, and if that fails, either the De-Solv-It or vegetable oil. caffy (2665)
1292447 2012-08-19 04:25:00 Sorry for late update, I tried water on a soft micro fibre cloth - that did the trick easily! Tv is looking very nice now. Thanks for the suggestions caffy (2665)
