90468 2002-10-18 09:38:00 Have configured my computer as W2k Pro/W2k Pro Dual Boot system (partitioned) as I have two software packages that refuse to co-exist on the same OS. When starting my computer I can select which OS to boot from however the selections both read "Windows 200 Pro". Is it possible to rename either of these selections??? boydr69 (2276)

Yes. Edit the BOOT.INI file which you will find on the boot partition of the hard drive. You may have to reset the READ_ONLY bit for the file. Modify it as you want/need e.g.

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="MS Windows 2000 Pro MyApp#1 SP2" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINNT="MS Windows 2000 Pro MyApp#2 SP3" /fastdetect
C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Recovery Console" /cmdcons

90470 2002-10-18 23:06:00 Thanks, worked fine.
Did however have to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" in folder options before I could find BOOT.INI

Thanks again, Boyd
