| 90426 | 2002-10-18 06:39:00 | Does anyone know how to unrelate Dreamweaver MX from file types such as PHP, etc. I have decided to semi-code by hand, and use less resource hungry programs like Edit Plus (a VERY good program) by default. I've had a look through the 'Preferences' in Dreamweaver, and through the extensions in Folder Options > File Types, but couldnt find an option/entry for PHP. grtz sal. tga |

| 90427 | 2002-10-18 07:01:00 | I'm hoping this works with your version of Windows (You don't mention what version in your post). Find a PHP file, hold down shift and right-click on the file and select "Open With". Tick the box that says "always open with this program" (or something similar) and then select the program you want to use as the default handler. Click OK and then double click the file - it should now open in the desired app. HTH Mike. |

| 90428 | 2002-10-18 07:07:00 | Hi there Sal I recently had the same sort of problem with Fireworks MX taking over my JPEG files. I am using Windows XP Home edition and this is how I did it. Open up My Computer then go Tools, Folder Options and then select the file types tab. Once all the file types have come up the scroll down to PHP File and select it. Now underneath you will see "Opens with Dreamweaver MX" click the 'change' button to the right and then select the program you wish to use. The click 'advanced' and you can change the icon here if it is not changed to the icon of the program that opens it. Hope this helps Regards Sam H |

| 90429 | 2002-10-18 10:12:00 | yep, i had that prob with fireworks mx too, but it didnt wont work with dreamweaver (well, mainly the php files) cos they dont appear in that list!, i have had a VERY good look there, and oh yeah, win98, so theres no Open with.. in the rightclick menu, although there is the option to open it with notepad, i dont need the hassle everytime i go to edit php files, which is quite regularly. i guess i could just uninstall dreamweaver, then reinstall, but ?:|, naah grtz sal. tga |
