| 90241 | 2002-10-17 09:50:00 | Hello, I have a IBM laptop, I am thinking of purchasing a IBM Thinkpad DVD/CDRW Combo in a few months time. I have done some researching, PowerDVD 4.0 can be unlocked via a patch, this DVD ROM is hardware locked after 5 changes. I have surf the web and come across nothing. I am aware of DVD Genie and Region Killer. How do I start?? If it does not work, I probably will still get, would u say sticking to USA Zone is the best?? Since NZ Zone gets crap DVD titles...... Maybe there is a firmware available. I will check with people the exact name of the drive behind the IBM casing. Some IBM's have been using Toshiba in the past. Rayonline |

| 90243 | 2002-10-17 19:35:00 | You might find that the Drive is labeled IBM but is infact made by someone else i.e. Acer. So if you could maybe see the drive before you buy it and have a look at the label on top. |

RPC1 means the drive is region free - saying there's no firmware for RPC1 yet means they don't have a region free crack for it. Mike. |
