| 90468 | 2002-10-18 09:38:00 | Have configured my computer as W2k Pro/W2k Pro Dual Boot system (partitioned) as I have two software packages that refuse to co-exist on the same OS. When starting my computer I can select which OS to boot from however the selections both read "Windows 200 Pro". Is it possible to rename either of these selections??? | boydr69 (2276) | ||
| 90469 | 2002-10-18 09:44:00 | Boydr69, Yes. Edit the BOOT.INI file which you will find on the boot partition of the hard drive. You may have to reset the READ_ONLY bit for the file. Modify it as you want/need e.g. [boot loader] timeout=5 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="MS Windows 2000 Pro MyApp#1 SP2" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINNT="MS Windows 2000 Pro MyApp#2 SP3" /fastdetect C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Recovery Console" /cmdcons Cheers, Babe. |
