Try another MS OS into the same partition.

Reduce the size of the first partition to under 4 gig and retry.

Get another computer and install into that.

In the past MS OS have had inbuilt limitations relating to recognising 1024 cylinders (DOS based OS), recognising partitions larger than 4096Mb (NT based OS) and system files outside the first 2048 Mb (DOS based OS).

Recently MS have acknowledged there may be a problem with IDE disk write speed and XP resulting in errors.

90420 2002-10-18 03:42:00 It's not a Good Idea to install an OS on a disk which is not "running" properly. A W98 partition which isn't working would probably qualify as not running properly. ;-) Graham L (2)
