90828 2002-10-19 11:24:00 My mouse has started jumping about the screen at random times and clicking things I didn't click - not moving but actually disappearing and appearing in a new spot, it started about 3 days ago and is rapidly becoming more frequent. I've tried the antivirus and got nothing, I keep my computer pretty clean so I can't really see why it's started suddenly. My only idea is the wires are wearing out and making it play up. It's a microsoft intellimouse optical, it's not on a network and it happens when I'm off the internet as well as on, in case that matters. I've had it for around 8 months now. Surely this is a rather short life span for a mouse?
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

90831 2002-10-20 01:55:00 cheap mice tend to have a genetic disorder which makes them vulnerable to early seizure.

Try another mouse, I have 2 - one on standby.

90833 2002-10-20 03:34:00 there was a post on this a while ago, there was interference with the MS intelli mice and other power cables. I'll find the post and get back to u.

90834 2002-10-20 03:36:00 Sounds like a hardware fault - the switches or wires packing up. Check the tail of the mouse - are there any rough edges of the case rubbing on the wire?

These days I just use cheap mice so that they are expendable without too much knashing of teeth and dollar counting. They work.

90835 2002-10-20 03:46:00 i couldn't find the link, but found some other interesting answers, it could be caused by a trojan that is in ur hdd, or also because maybe u have kept the ms intelli mouse wire close to power cables that run across at the back of the pc, this could cause some considerable interference causing ur mouse to go "psycho". This can be remedied by keeping the powercables and other unneccesary cables away from the mouse cable.

cheers,
