| 90730 | 2002-10-19 04:43:00 | Warning!! Linux newbie problem - please be kind. I have finally got SuSE 8.0 loaded onto my spare drive, but during setup my monitor make wasn't listed so I choose VESA (as suggested in the help). Unfortunately now my mouse cursor is invisible. Whilst I enjoy a challenge, navigating around a foreign OS trying to guess "where is the cursor now" is not my idea of fun :-( After some research I believe that if I find the correct driver for my monitor and load this the problem should be fixed. Trouble is I have looked everywhere (try deciphering Polish sites) for a suitable Linux compatible driver. My monitor is: LIKOM L7034LD (aka Viewmate) - PC Company standard monitor Question is: Is there another monitor model I could select instead that would be "close enough". I can manually adjust the frequency settings so that they match the settings in my monitor manual. Have I overlooked something more obvious? ?:| Thanks in advance Jen - green "as" linux newbie :D |

This will once again start up the mouse, keyboard and monitor program. Have a search around and a play around, but check the settings prior to accepting them. |

| 90732 | 2002-10-19 11:25:00 | Thanks Gorela I logged on as root and typed sax2 but managed to get stuck on: Card: 0 -> NVidia GeForce@ MX/MX400, Do you want to enable 3D for this card? [yes | <no> ] I wanted to select "No" but it ignore all my attempts at selecting that. Anyway, so I went back and used GUI and managed to open up "Monitors/Graphics" (or similar name) and had a twiddle around with the monitor brands/models. There were heaps of brands listed with corresponding model numbers but I settled on "Viewsonic - model 7" and bingo! I have a mouse cursor back! I think my set-up requires a bit more tweaking yet, but I am dealing with one issue at a time :D Thanks again Jen |
