90745 2002-10-20 18:52:00 What an inspiring thread!

...No work for the next few days
...An old metal bath sits in a pile of used building materials waiting for me
....There's a private space in the back yard
...And a big pile of firewood to burn under the bath
...And a good friend coming over for the week (who is
not a computer)
....Our Phrontistery shall awake!

Thankyou Billy for inspiring our relaxation and pleasure

90747 2002-10-20 20:47:00 Well there's a memory.

In the dark ages (seems like it was) actually mid sixties, we were a small team full of ideas (because there were seven of us we gained a nickname from a popular movie of the time) [clues given for any PressF1ers who may be watching that were also part of it.]

Anyway enough reminiscing - lots of water under the bridge etc. - but the label on our main workroom door was - U guessed it - THE PHRONTISTERY.

90748 2002-10-20 21:31:00 Well well well :O

And there I was thinking this WFTWE was a bit of a loser. :(

To have inspired Clueless to construct a phronistery and invite a friend to come and enjoy some mutual phronking
(thanks GP :8}) somehow makes it all worthwhile.

I notice we got to robo too! ]:) I'd love to see the mental video he was running when he so valiantly tried to stop listening.

Above all though, this WFTWE inspired Clueless to invent one of the most useful new words I have seen for a long time:

Avaid v.t.
To avoid doing or evade consequences of, to keep away or escape from.

This word should become part of the Kiwi vernacular, encouraging as it does the avaision of excess verbiage in the written and spoken word.

90750 2002-10-21 02:07:00 And I guess Clueless if you fall out of the bath and onto the fire you can find a whole new meaning for Rotisserie.

Cheers, Babe.

90751 2002-10-21 02:19:00 The refined design has a double ring gas burner as the heat source, so likelyhood of burning is low, hopefully this shall ensure more even heating of the water in the bath. The concrete below where the bath will be is hard so i shall try to ensure neither i or my better ½ fall out......

I had a similar set up several years ago when i lived in the the small west coast town of Millerton. Being the days before i had a computer i had no need for electricity, and the bath was dug into a bank, under it was a small coal fire. The only flaw with that set up was that there was a hot spot on the bottom of the bath, so a tile was needed to keep my bum from burning.

Very relaxing despite the hassle of heating the bath first.
