CD-R's or CD RW's?

91275 2002-10-21 11:14:00 err... presuming you put them on the hard drive first... SoniKalien (792)
91276 2002-10-21 16:28:00 Just a wild stab in the dark (after all it is dark here), copy one of those image files to your desktop and check the properties on it, there should be three, Read Only, Archive and Hidden, see what is checked and have a play round with this. Change the properties and see if that helps, if you crack it, copy the whole lot to a folder in your hard drive, select all and then properties, change the tick to suit.

Probably not much help but worth a try.

91277 2002-10-21 18:13:00 I tried copying to the hard drive, but it comes up with a message that the system cannot read from the device, so only the folder and folder name gets copied. No photos within.
To answer any other queries, I have a large number (12) CDs full of digital photos - and the main reason for putting them on CD in the beginning was to save space on the HDD. I wait till I have enough photos / folders and then transfer them from HD to the CDR. My virus protection is totally up to date, no problems there. The CD itself isn't old, this is one of the more recent CDs I have made.
The CD Writer is an HP CDwriter plus, 9100 series.

91278 2002-10-21 19:14:00 Sounds rather tricky indeed.

Have you tried reinstalling drivers? even the OS? I know it's a pain in the butt but sometime reinstalling the OS is the ony way.

what software are you using to burn the CDs? There is often a diagnostic prggie with them eg Easy CD creator has ScanDisk (for CD's)

91279 2002-10-23 02:44:00 I really feel for you as this is the sort of thing that usually happens to me. :-(

As a bit of a long shot, have you tried reading/opening the files on another computer at all? Just to eliminate the possiblity that it might be your PC...

91280 2002-10-23 03:27:00 Another long shot - did you "finalise" the CD, or is it still open as a multisession? That could cause the files to not show. It *should* be visible in the writer but who knows?

Try finalising it in the CD writer?

91281 2002-10-23 04:20:00 Had a similar thing happen to me The cdr was at fault.

My fix was download cdroller at http://www.cdroller.com/ then you may be able to see your pics and recover them to your hard drive.

Hope this helps
