| 91417 | 2002-10-21 07:54:00 | I have a new PC at work with Office XP. I can't make the dictionary in Word change from English US to English NZ on a permanent basis. It will change when doing a spell check and finds something. I have been into the Office XP languge program, and have tried changing it in normal.dot. Anything else to look at? | wotz (335) | ||

| 91420 | 2002-10-21 09:07:00 | Wotz, Are you on a Win2k server based network at work. You may have Policies in place. If not it may be the regional settings or similar. Babe. |

| 91422 | 2002-10-21 09:22:00 | wotz, First, to change the dictionary permanently, you need to open Word without opening a document (so just have the blank empty document on screen). Then go Tools > Language > Set Language Click on Engligh (New Zealand) and then click on "Default..." button. It'll ask if you want to set it as default for all documents based on Normal.dot (click yes). Then exit Word. When you restart Word it should be using English (New Zealand). If you open a document (after successfully changing the default language) that changes the dictionary, it'll be because the document you've opened has been saved using the other dictionary. If you then go back and make a new blank document it should be using English (NZ) again. Changing the default doesn't change it for every document you open, just new documents you create after changing the default. HTH Mike. |
