| 91331 | 2002-10-21 03:58:00 | My 2 year old 17" PC Co. monitor aka. Likom 7034 has recently run out of adjustment on vertical size, contrast and brightness. Horizontal size has adjustment to spare. Generally everything is OK but I'm losing about 6mm on the top and bottom of the screen. I tried an identical monitor from another computer and after fiddling with the adjustments I was able to set everything with out getting anywhere near the maximum. That should rule out the video card. I have set my display at 1024 x 768 & refresh rate 75hz. Different settings alter things slightly but not enough to fix the problem. I'm on Windows ME. P3 & Geforce 2 MX Anyone got any ideas. Thanks in advance | i-gordon (962) | ||
| 91332 | 2002-10-21 04:04:00 | Hi i-gordon I have the identical monitor/graphics card/operating system/P3. My settings are: refresh rate: optimal H-size: 38 V-size: 60 There will always be a black edge around the side, it is part of the non-viewable area of the screen. Hope this helps. Jen |

| 91338 | 2002-10-22 09:47:00 | EHT is Extra High Tension (about 25,000 volts) Unless you are well informed, trained and qualified you dont fix it. Or it will fix you. If the voltage is too high, the beam travels so fast it doesnt get time to be deflected as much. The same circuitry is involved in the horizontal scanning section, which *could* also explain why you have plenty of width. This is a dangerous place to play, so I wouldnt advise it. The EHT will easily jump an inch or two, so stay away! Its a job for the service people, they have the necessary probes to measure the voltage. As an aside, does the size of the image change between a white screen and a dark one? If it does that can be a pointer to poor EHT regulation. Unless you know this field, the technical explanations won't help, and if you are knowledgeable then you didn't need them anyway....catch 22 |
