| 91610 | 2002-10-22 05:20:00 | hi, the other day i pulled my printer USB plug out ofthe corresponding Female on my laptop and unbeknowns to me the little spacer in side the female came broke and came out with the printer plug - so that when i plugged it back in a little later the alignment was wrong and one of the little pins on the Latop port is squashed the back. how would this be repairs - have heard a horror story that it is likelythat the whole mother board will require replaceing???? is this true???? cheers will wright |

| 91613 | 2002-10-23 00:59:00 | My technique would be to clip the pins from the socket, and desolder them separately. Trying to remove parts "whole" from boards can damage the board ... just extracting leads one by one is pretty safe. The argument is: either replace the board : expensive ; or try to remove the socket and replace: if sduccessful, cheap, otherwise replace the board. I am assuming that the replacement socket can be bought :D |
