91449 2002-10-21 22:43:00 I want to completely clear and wipe everything off my hard-drive which is currently running win 95. After which I would like to install (hopefully onto a fresh clean hard-drive) win 98. There is also a lot of 'CRAP' on the hard-drive which is continually crashing it. Is it possible to clean my hard-drive and start over installing a newer OS? famulan (2308)

91451 2002-10-22 06:22:00 yep it's possible, u can install a newer OS, i'm not sure if u can use the older windows cd's to wipe the hdd, but the win xp cd can. for win 98 i think u need a boot disk with the command in it that will wipe the hdd. u can create the boot disk by going some where in the control panel, can't remember exactly where it was, sorry.

cheers,

91452 2002-10-22 07:37:00 In Win98 and WinME try creating a boot disk by going

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Click on the StartUp Disk Tab.

91453 2002-10-22 12:46:00 Oh God, don't listen to these guys. The easiest way will be to simple put your installation CD into the drive and boot. You will get a question asking u if you want to boot from CDrom of Hard Drive, choose CDROM. Installation will start, simply choose to format your current drive and your away laughing archangel (2309)
