| 91324 | 2002-10-21 05:50:00 | Hi I been thinking about buying a graphic card for my computer. I always see graphic cards with the word AGP. I know what AGP stands for and I know there is an AGP slot on the mainboard as well. I just want to know is it possible to install a AGP graphic card onto a PCI slot (sorry if it sounded quite rude). This cause my mainboard doesn't have an AGP slot :_l . By the way what can you install into an ISA slot? Thanks alot :) Jase Sen |

| 91325 | 2002-10-21 05:53:00 | No you cannot install an AGP card in the PCI slot The ISA slot - an older technology (bPC - befor PCI) - can/is/was used to install video/modem/network etc cards. Babe. |

| 91326 | 2002-10-21 06:56:00 | You can buy lower spec graphics cards for PCI slots. 32 MB MX2 series. Sometimes however the on (mother)board graphics cannot be disabled and will not share, and the system won't boot with a PCI graphics card. You need to check first. I have one system that will and another model that will not accept another card. If it will accept it, you can run both graphics systems to two monitors. Only older slower graphics would have used the ISA slot, and they were used more recently for hardware based internal modems. Basically apart from an ISA modem, (like hens teeth now) the ISA slot has little use. |
