I couldn't even get dos 6.22 working on my machine (just tried out of interest). |

| 91697 | 2002-10-22 23:43:00 | Hmmm, lemme get this right: you live in NZ and ordered that PC off the internet and got it from USA?? :O Hmmm, the popup (how did that get through anyway?) says Free Delivery for October. Wonder if that applies here....? Can't you tell us a bit more about that?? |

I think you can use Win9x fdisk and format as long as you dont say yes to large disk support, otherwise the earlier fdisks will say non-dos partition. Otherwise it's best to use a boot disk appropriate to the dos version and there wont be any problems. Dos earlier than 3.3 doesnt support 1.44MB floppy drives, and for say dos2 you need a 360K 51/4 floppy drive and 360K disks, you cant make dos2 boot disks on 1.44MB disks. Dos 3.3 only supports 32 MB hard disks, so your 80GB drive will only be 32MB :) A vga monitor can be used with Win1.0, just select EGA during setup. Anyway its a bit of historical fun! |

Email me at: crozier@hotpop.com Lots of good software at www.download.com. but the best way to get cheap stuff is to buy PC magazines like NZ PC World. Stick to the Aussie or NZ mags and you shouldn't have to pay more than $10 each. If you want some magazine CDs with Win 95 compatable software i can give you some old ones from under the bed. |

If you could tell me what sort of > games I can handle then I will consider buying them. > I dont mind being called a newbie because I am one. you have the fastest graphics card on the planet in that machine. thus it's fairly safe to say that you can run any new game you want ;) read some reviews and decide what sort of games you like then go nuts :) Doom 3.... mmm :D PC Powerplay is an excellent mag for games. |

| 91702 | 2002-10-23 03:38:00 | Go with Win2K if you dont want XP, It's a fair amount faster IMHO... Not too sure how the stats pile up! www.abisource.org I think is the URL for ABIword. Chess.. Use something like Yahoo and play online! |

| 91704 | 2002-10-23 03:40:00 | Wihtout being toooo sarcastic, you mean to tell me that your father paid approx $5000 for a computer without a monitor, that he could've got in NZ for considerably less than that with a monitor, and all you want to do is play chess and check your e-mail. Ask your father if he is interested in adopting a few extra children, if he buys us all new computers, failing that do you want to swap it for a computer that will do what you want and I can have yours. You seem to be totally confused about RAM, CPU and HDD, you have 512MB RAM, a 80Gb HDD, and an AMD 2.2Ghz (not sure) processor. This machine will basically run anything that you throw at it. I think you are the envy of everyone on this board, as I can imagine us all drooling over the thought of owning a machine like this. |

| 91705 | 2002-10-23 03:56:00 | actually it came with a monitor. I will ask my dad about the confusion. He says he customized it and added a space black 18 inch LCD display. He also says he will not disclose the amount he paid. SORRY. I only wanted help and im sorry I get confused with rams and cpus! I will not play against Yahoo because I enjoy really hard games, as in the computer set on expert. And as for a swap, are you telling me your computer will play chess and have good email support BETTER than mine? if so I will consider a swap but I must ask my dad. |
