| 91734 | 2002-10-24 21:50:00 | Hi Peter, I used to have an old 33.6modem with a phone input and always found it a bit better than the mic. As I said the 56kmodem I'm using now is phone jackless. Double adapter dosen't work as a mic. The latest drama has been when I decieded to uninstall \reinstall Winfax. I had played around with some stuff that I thought Winfax might pickup on reinstallation. Any way it wanted to restart a couple of times to uninstall after which NOTHING worked as the registry had gone bad. tried backups and reg fix to no avail. Thank the stars I had made a CD HD backup a few weeks ago all praise to NERO I'm going to give Winfax one last go tonight. Thanks for the input. |

| 91735 | 2002-10-25 09:03:00 | How about going to a friends place and recording the mesage there,then emailing it to yourself,and importing it into Talkworks,or even just putting it on a floppy if it will fit.Or using one of the prerecorded ones(some of them aren't too bad.Try looking on the net for answerphone messages and see if there is anything there,you never know your luck in the big city.Winfax is a good program,I have found,very simple to use,and very effective.Good value I reckon.Good luck anyway! | 91736 | 2002-10-25 21:10:00 | Hi Peter Have been playing around with the problem and been able to record an acceptable message on the windows sound recorder, the problem comes about when you try to import the file. There is a screwup in the audio compression codecs somehow, as Winfax can't seem to detect the Windows ones and asks you to install them even though they are there already. I've uninstalled reinstalled and even added them in through the Add Hardware section in the Control Panel without any change. The perfectly acceptable Windows Recorder file gets reduced to "Road Noise". I agree about Winfax being a good program(generally!!!) it always seems to be able to pick up and distinguish between voice\fax calls. Something that I have had a few problems with on other programs. |
