91677	2002-10-22 09:32:00	sorry: i got cpu and ram mixed up, my friend has 64mb ram and 20 gig cpu! lol im sorry for any confusion! my friend also tells me 512 is good enough to run winXP fine so DONT WORRY ABOUT FINDING ME A WIN95 thanks a hoot. 91680	2002-10-22 09:36:00	Windows XP has been rated as the fastest operating syste, to date, while this may depend on who's doing the tests - chances are it will run faster than 95 would - if you can find the drivers for it... Have you had a play with XP? You can turn off all the frilly bits and turn it back to a tweaked version of Windows 98. Personally I wouldn't do without XP now. Installing and system maintainence is just to easy. If you do go to Win 95, make sure you get service release 2 - since it supports Fat 32 so you can have disk partitions over 2 GB. 91681	2002-10-22 09:39:00	since you seem to be a complete newbie (no offence ;)) just stick with xp. installing anything else will probably be more trouble than it's worth at this stage. wouldn't it be nice if you COULD download ram.. unfortunately, you can't because it's hardware. you have to buy it at a shop and physically plug it into the inside of your machine. your friend was talking about his 20gig harddrive, not ram. 512 MEGS is quite a good amount, by comparison I have 256 megs, and run all sorts of everything just fine... if you only install openoffice.org and a chess program, xp will not conker out. you'd have to install quite a lot of stuff to conker it out.	loser (538)
91682	2002-10-22 09:49:00	OH MY GOD!!!!! B-) I want your PC :D :x I'd recommend OpenOffice as others have already. With OS Windows XP will be fine. 512Megs RAM is plenty. Works really good for me. Your harddrive will be a 80GB Western Digital UltraATA 7200RPM 8MB Cache which is considerably better than the 20gig seagate your friend will have. Once again I have to say, I lover your PC (www.alienware.com) Alien Ware (http://www.alienware.com) are one of the only package computers I would buy.	-=JM=- (16)
