| 92497 | 2002-10-24 06:32:00 | When i run Scandisk(win 98se) it keeps restarting. I run it in safe mode , and pressing control/alt/delete tells me only Windows Explorer is running . How else do i work out what program is causing the problem . PS. A virus scan with up to date norton says my system is free of bugs. Any help would be great. Mike |

| 92498 | 2002-10-24 06:56:00 | It restarts whenever something on the disk changes. You have to run in safe mode and you have to make sure nothing else is runng, and I would disable your screen saver too. robo. |

| 92499 | 2002-10-24 07:07:00 | the other thing is the swap file resizing which can interupt scandisk/defrag. just up the minimum swapfile size a bit. | tweak'e (174) | ||
| 92500 | 2002-10-24 10:51:00 | I did all the above and still had problems so followed someone elses advice and downloaded a program called End It All. This enabled me to close another six odd programs that weren't displayed as running in task manager and now I can scandisc and defrag without going into safemode and without problems. Just do a seach of Cnet or Google for End It All by Ziff Davis Media. | Danger (287) | ||
