92501 2002-10-24 05:39:00 just a thought here

if i turn my computer on and leave it on for over 24hrs
or 30hrs straight
then only turn it off for it to rest for 2 or 3 hrs
then leave it on again for another 24hrs
will anything happen to it

will some parts start heating up
or is it just bad to leave it on for that long

i've heard that before they sell a computer
they leave it on for a week to see if it can withstand the timetrial
but if it is done regulary through a week
will anything happen to it?

. . . don't ask why i need it to leave on for that long . . .

92503 2002-10-24 07:13:00 the only catch could be if you are running it in a small closed room. the room temp can get very high.

i used to have to leave the window ajar to get enough cool air to stop the pc from overheating.

92504 2002-10-24 07:23:00 My computer running a Athlon 2100+ is left on 24 hrs a day and 7 days per week. The only time it gets turned off is to install Hardware. Elephant (599)
92505 2002-10-24 07:27:00 On average mines on for ~48 hours.
It's a AthlonXP 2000+, and runs usually at 45 degrees.

Sure good on cold days, heats up the room in no time.

92506 2002-10-24 07:29:00 We run ours 24/7 with no problems. Even with the heat and high humidity we don't have a problem. We do have a external room fan running all the time though which helps to move the air about but I doubt that it makes any difference to the computers. duckyduck (197)
92507 2002-10-24 07:35:00 Provided that there is ventilation all should be fine.

I like to have mine running 24/7 but sometimes it's just too loud :D.

REMEMBER to turn your monitor off as that will be the biggest drain on power.
