92413 2002-10-24 04:55:00 Hi

I was wondering my motherboard doesn't have a AGP slot, does it mean that I can't have a graphic card...? Every where I see, all graphics cards are AGP's. What are the chances of stores selling PCI graphic cards? And if it is still possible what kinds can I get now, Geforce 2, TNT 2...etc and how many MBs?

Thanks alot

PCI will not perform quite as well.

you will have to shop around to find PCI 3D cards but i caould be a good option.

do you know what graphics card you have at the moment??

92416 2002-10-24 07:15:00 Hi...

I have seen PCI graphics cards lumped in a pile at the staionery warehouse...and read about them at Tom's Hardware's website (heaps of good info about PCI's vs AGP's), which I think PCI cards seem to fall down a bit in 3D textures...

Cheers..

92417 2002-10-24 07:24:00 All i've seen in GF2's and TNT2's, they're really the only types that are made in PCI, you won't find anything like a GF4 in PCI. Mr. Insanity (957)
92418 2002-10-24 08:55:00 You will probably max out at a 32 Mb GF2 in PCI

Remember not all Motherboards with on-board graphicd can take an external PCI card either. Some insist on maintaining a conflict with the result they wont boot, and cannot be disabled.

Many are OK, but check before you spend the money.
