92340 2002-10-23 23:57:00 Anyone have any suggestions on any good mp3 players around?
im looking for one with atleast a 1gb hdd, and the ability to play wav and wma files as well as mp3s. The price range isnt really important; but under $1000 would be cool.
must be usb (not 2.0) connection and must come with battery charger or whatever.
thanks

92342 2002-10-24 00:19:00 Your best bet is probaly the Creative Nomad MP3 Players (www.nomadworld.com/). However it does use IEEE insted of USB. Maybe you could get an adaptor Dylan (800)
92343 2002-10-24 00:43:00 I heard the the Mac mp3 player is a wizz

You can use it with a PC also.

92344 2002-10-24 01:48:00 You're also better off to go for a straight MP3 player, not a mp3 player/camera/this and that.... They're usually just better! Any of the nomads are good as mentioned. USB is good, 1.1 not 2.0 but I think USB2 is backwards compatible... Not tu sure, have to check that one out.

Firewire cards are pretty cheap, add another $90 on top of the player if it is firewire.

Just have a look around, for under $1K, you'll get almost anything!

92345 2002-10-24 01:50:00 I have a sony netMD $500
While technically not an mp3 player it is pretty good. Holding about 30 odd songs on each $2 disc. Uses USB 1
The good thing about it is that it is reasonably small and doesn't suffer from skipping.
If you go for a nomad which is harddisk based, you are going to be subjected to skipping, its also larger than a MD.
If you don't want MD, and you don't want skipping, go for a solid state MP3 player (that uses memmory for storage) though these are not as cost effective

92346 2002-10-24 04:39:00 I've got the netMD as well roofus. Well I lie it's my stepdads. ;)

The only draw back is that you can't upload to the PC audio that you have recorded with a microphone.
