92199 2002-10-24 04:47:00 IF your getting a BSOD on pressf1 wouldn't it be because it uses java, and you must have some sorta crappy java installation roofus (483)
92200 2002-10-24 04:51:00 It's obvious. You are running an operating system. Remove that and there will be no more problems. B-) Graham L (2)
92201 2002-10-24 04:59:00 LOL Graham. It might solve my PC problems but it would cause even worse ones: I'd then go mental (well, more mental anyway) at losing my daily PC and internet fix. :D

Peter, I'm running Win98 (first edition) with IE 5.5 SP2. I'd have to agree with roofus that it's probably something to do with the java. Doesn't happen too often though, fortunately.

92202 2002-10-24 06:32:00 Much the same - about once a fortnight. IE 5.00.3314 - SP2 - Java logging & JIT compiler enalabled - Java console not. Must confess that I haven't got a clue about what that means !!

92203 2002-10-24 16:58:00 Oh silly me, what great replies,
I have 312 Meg of ram 304 Meg of it went for a spring holiday, and my red bar graph (seen on my desktop for Susan B posting) covered for it for the week, by faking a display, now my RAM has come back everything is working great.

I should of known I once 8 Meg of ram in my 486 once I went to 16 Meg, blue screen fatal exceptions almost went away.

92204 2002-10-24 17:17:00 by the way the question was not so much "why does my computer get fatal exception and yours does not"

it was more of "Has your computer suddenly got a some dose of fatal exceptions"

I may as well spill the beans now, The only thing I have done over that time is update my Anti-virus program, could this be a trade mark of "Free anti-virus programs" as I said I could be wrong, that's why I ask the F1 users

92205 2002-10-24 19:25:00 Most unhelpfull response I have seen for ages - someone suggested it might be something to do with Java - that was why I explained what I had enabled. Do you need any part of Java for normal use ?
Bye

92206 2002-10-24 20:11:00 Well Petter if you had a closer read, Susan answer your question, along with what i said. errors caused on pressf1 are most likely caused by fault java.
Then you ask do i need java?, well you do if you want to go on pressf1, and about 20% of websites out there, not to mention many of the programmes you run. So yes you do need java.
Want to know how to fix it?
Update to IE6.
thats why microsoft puts out updates, to fix these kinds of problems

92207 2002-10-24 20:57:00 Thanks for your reply, but it doesn't explain why it only happens on Press F1. At 9.30 am I clicked on "memory AVG" link & whammo - blue screen. This time I noted what it said. "OE 0028:COO1545A in VXD............."
Had to reboot & then had problems logging on again. Server Timed out.
Have no desire to change to IE6, or XP for that matter.
Bye

92208 2002-10-24 21:10:00 an 0E exception is commonly caused by memmory or hardware faults throuh a vxd which is a virtual device driver, try looking at the name of the vxd next time it comes up. then go into "msconfig" and disable it, and see if that resolve the problem (note this could stop a particular prog from working)

The reason why your errors only happen with pressf1 is because the way the java is written for this site must not agree with the java you have, ie, its telling it to do stuff it doesn't know how to do. So upgrading to IE6 should resolve the problem. The fact that you have no desire to upgrade shows you really don't care about the problems you have and i then wonder why you insist on seeking support?
