2002-10-25 06:48:00 | For a while I could not view deleted stuff in Norton's recycle bin then it fixed itself. Yesterday the Icon looked like a piece of paper now it's as it should be. I keep the things that I use on the right side but now & again one or two of them move across to the other side. Is there any explanation why they do this? I have ME. Pauline.

2002-10-25 07:25:00 | I Just checked & I don't have auto arrange ticked, there are no ticks beside any of the arrange icons. I'm convinced it's haunted. Pauline.

2002-10-26 03:21:00 | Pauline, do you have lots of icons on the desktop? If so then the cache file that stores them can get filled, and then they have to rebuild each time you boot up, and their position can change. If you see white squares where the icons are going to be during booting windows, and then the icons appear, then the cache file is too small. The cure for this is to add a Max Cached Icons string and value in a registry key, but you need to be happy delving into the registry to do that. I can tell you what to do for Win98, it should be the same for Win ME. Alternatively try to reduce the number of icons you have. If you dont have many icons then indeed your desktop may be haunted :)

2002-10-26 05:49:00 | Hi, vk_dre, Yes I did a complete scan on Thursday. All clear. Terry, I have 31 desk top icons. It doesn't look too many on a 17" screen. Pauline.

Cut down on the icons and u should get some increase in performance as well as less of those haunted icons moving across the screen. :D cheers, v.K------------------- :D |

2002-10-26 06:19:00 | You mean that just haveing Icons sitting on your desktop uses ram and affects performance? Wow, if thats the case I'm pleased to say I have none! | Danger (287) | |
